User and Room Search

With Element Client

In the web browser, the left-hand sidebar provides an overview of Spaces, rooms and people. The search field there can be used to search for Spaces, rooms and people.

With FluffyChat Client

In the web browser, the left-hand sidebar provides an overview of Spaces, chats (= rooms) and users. The search field there can be used to search for Spaces, chats and users.

Searching Messages in a Room

With Element Client

The user is in a room and would like to search the messages. By clicking on the room name or the info icon, the room info is opened. At the top, a search field labelled Search messages is displayed. A search term can be entered there.

Note: Please be aware of encrypted rooms. Encrypted messages are not searched when using the Element Client in the web browser. The search will return no results in that case.

As an alternative, the Element Desktop App can be used. Searching encrypted messages is possible there.
