With the Contacts app in faircloud, you can manage contacts, organize them in different address books, and structure them using contact groups. Teams are also available for collaboration between faircloud users.
Import contacts
Contacts can be imported using a VCF file (vCard).
Open the Contacts app in faircloud.
Open Settings at the bottom of the left sidebar.
Select Import contacts.
Select the desired
.vcffile.Select the address book into which the contacts should be imported and start the import.
A VCF file can contain multiple contacts, so larger contact lists can also be imported at once.
SUPPORTED FORMAT
The import supports vCard files in vCard 3.0 or 4.0 format.
Address books
Address books allow you to organize contacts in separate areas, for example by work area, project, or purpose.
You can create new address books in the Settings of the Contacts app. Existing address books can also be enabled or disabled, exported, shared, or deleted there.
Contacts from disabled address books are not displayed in the Contacts app.
There is also a system address book. It contains the users of the faircloud instance. This address book is managed automatically and is read-only.
Contact groups
Contact groups allow you to further organize contacts within your address books. A contact can be assigned to multiple contact groups.
You can create a new contact group using the plus icon next to “Contact groups” in the left sidebar.
A contact group must contain at least one contact before it can be saved. Contacts from read-only address books, such as the system address book, cannot be added to contact groups.

Internal or external contacts
Teams
Teams are different from contact groups. They consist of users or accounts and are intended for collaboration within faircloud.
A team can, for example, be used to share files and folders with several people at once or to define a group of users for other functions within faircloud.
You can create a new team using the plus icon next to “Teams” in the Contacts app and then add members.
Different roles can be assigned within a team:
Member: can access resources shared with the team and see the other team members.
Moderator: can additionally invite members and manage memberships.
Administrator: can additionally manage the team settings.
Owner: has full control over the team and can transfer ownership.
Contact groups or teams?
Use contact groups when you want to organize stored contacts.
Use teams when several faircloud users need to access resources together or collaborate as a group.
An external contact in your address book is therefore not automatically a faircloud user and is not automatically a member of a team.
Synchronize contacts
faircloud address books can also be synchronized with compatible applications and devices via CardDAV, for example with Contacts on macOS and iOS or with supported desktop applications.
You can find the required CardDAV address in the settings of the respective address book in the Contacts app.
Merge duplicate contacts
If the same contact exists more than once, two editable contacts can be merged within the Contacts app. You can choose which information should be retained. Existing assignments to contact groups can also be taken into account when merging.
