1) Create a room
A new room can be created within a Space. To do so, click Add in the Space and select New room.
2) Assign a name
Give the room a name and optionally enter a topic.
3) Room visibility
You can further specify who can see and join the room. This can be changed at any time afterwards.
The following options are available:
- Visible to Space members (all members of this Space can find the room and join it)
- Private room (invitation required) (an invitation is required in order to find the room and join it)
- Public room (anyone can find the room and join it)
4) End-to-end encryption
We recommend leaving end-to-end encryption enabled, as only this ensures that communication is end-to-end encrypted. This cannot be changed afterwards.
5) Advanced settings
Under Advanced settings, you can specify that only users from fairchat.eu, i.e. from the respective home server, are permitted to join the room. This should only be enabled if the room is intended exclusively for communication with users from that home server. A user from a different home server will then be unable to join the room.
Confirm by clicking Create room.
6) Invite people to the room
Once the room has been created, people can be invited to it. To do so, click Invite to this room only within the room.
Users can be invited by display name, e-mail address, or username (e.g. @nickname:fairchat.eu).
Search for people and confirm by clicking Invite.
