Can I synchronise my YouTube channel with fair.tube?

Yes. Under "Channels" → "Synchronizations", enter the address of your YouTube channel. fair.tube then checks the channel every hour and imports new videos automatically, up to 10 per check. With the option "Import all", up to 1000 existing videos are imported as well when you set it up. Imports run one after another, so a large channel takes some time.

How reliable is it?
YouTube makes automated retrieval difficult and keeps changing its protection measures. Synchronisation can therefore be interrupted from time to time. We are notified automatically when this happens and fix it. However, we cannot guarantee that every video is imported without gaps.

Which videos are not imported?
Age-restricted videos, videos that were removed or blocked on YouTube, and running live streams are skipped. You can upload these videos to fair.tube directly.

Which licence do the videos get?
YouTube only transmits "Standard licence" or "Creative Commons (CC BY)". Other licences, for example CC BY-NC-ND, are not recognised during import, even if they are stated in the video description. The description itself is imported as text. Imported videos get the default licence of fair.tube (CC BY 4.0), which you can change per video afterwards. PeerTube currently does not offer a fixed default per channel.

In which quality do the videos arrive?
In the resolution of the source and additionally in 1080p and 360p, up to 4K (2160p) and 60 frames per second. PeerTube currently does not support 8K and HDR, such videos are imported in 4K.
