fair.tube is fairkom's video platform – an ads-free alternative to the large video portals, where you can share videos privately or publicly. The content focus is on sustainability, culture, free software and the commons.
The platform is based on PeerTube, whose source code is open to inspect: no hidden algorithms, no collection of user data, no advertising.
Its distinctive feature is peer-to-peer distribution: while you watch a video, your own computer helps to distribute it. When many people watch the same video at once, the browser sends small parts of it to other viewers. This is particularly energy-efficient, because no large server capacity has to be provided in the data centre even during peaks.
fair.tube is part of the Fediverse, a network of alternative social media that also includes Mastodon and Pixelfed. Via the ActivityPub protocol recommended by the W3C, other PeerTube instances can subscribe to fair.tube – and vice versa.

To upload, sign in with your fairlogin account – the same login you use for the other fairapps. Then create a channel and upload your first video. If you need more storage, order a storage package in the fairkom shop.
