How do I upload a file to faircloud?

Upload a new file from your PC to faircloud

There are several ways to upload a file to faircloud. The most straightforward is to log in to faircloud and navigate to the folder in which the file is to be saved. There, press the "+ NEW" button (1), then press "Upload file" (2).

In the Explorer/Finder window that opens, select the files to be uploaded (1) and press Open (2). Multiple files can also be uploaded at once.

Another option is to upload files via drag & drop. To do this, faircloud must be open in the background (1), and a local Explorer/Finder window must be open in the foreground (2). When a file (3) is dragged over the faircloud window (4), a "drop zone" (5) appears over which the file can be released, thereby uploading it to faircloud. If folders are visible in the faircloud window, files can also be dropped directly onto them and thus uploaded directly into that folder.

If the nextcloud desktop app is installed locally on your computer, files can also be uploaded/synchronised via the filesystem. More information about the nextcloud app is available in this fairkom tutorial video: Setting up the Desktop Client. The video first explains the installation on Linux, and from approximately minute 2:40 covers the setup, which is largely applicable to Windows and Mac as well. In our fairkom Wiki there is also a brief general guide to setting up synchronisation: How do I synchronise content?
