    • Firstly, deleted files do not simply disappear, but can be restored via the recycle bin (Deleted Files, bottom left in the navigation within faircloud)
    • if faircloud is synchronised with the desktop, the files are additionally backed up on the computer

    • storage boxes there are protected by a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks), which can tolerate the failure of multiple hard drives
    • the risk of data loss is therefore relatively low
    • by using checksums for individual data blocks, bit errors are detected and corrected

    fairkom performs backups using cron jobs

    • a backup of the database is applied daily to a different machine within the same data centre
    • every Tuesday and Saturday, a backup of the data is transferred to a different data centre
